Turkish MFA urges citizens to refrain from trips to Nagorno-Karabakh
ArmInfo.Turkish Foreign Ministry urged citizens to refrain from trips to Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Visiting the occupied territories without the permission of the
Azerbaijani authorities contradicts not only international law, but
also involves a number of sanctions in accordance with Azerbaijani
legislation," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said, Anadolu reports.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also recalled that Turkish citizens
illegally visiting "occupied Azerbaijani territories" lose access to
consular support.
Recall that in the second decade of September, representatives of the
Turkish intelligentsia - a member of the political party "Green and
Left Future", the chairman of the public organization "Ankara's
Platform of Thinking" Ufuk Uraz, writer and public figure Said
Chekinoglu, some Ali Bayramoglu, writer and presenter Erol
Katyrchyoglu visited Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. This visit caused
a painful reaction in Azerbaijan. The Prosecutor General's Office of
Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case against the above- mentioned
persons and conducts an inspection, moreover, they are declared on
the international wanted list by the Interpol line. It is known that
Turkey does not extradite its citizens to foreign countries at the
request of Interpol. However, the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan
stated that Ankara will fulfill the legal requirements of the
Azerbaijani legislation.
