Russian MES helps Armenian citizens who became hostages of bad weather at the Upper Lars checkpoint
ArmInfo. According to the information of the Consulate General of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don, for citizens of Armenia, stuck at the Upper Las checkpoint due to
unfavorable weather conditions, EMERCOM of Russia installed tents,
organized a field kitchen to provide citizens with hot meals and
other assistance.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the representative of the
Consul General of the Republic of Armenia is also at the checkpoint.
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry of Armenia informs that snow
removal works continue on the road section of Stepantsminda-Lars,
according to preliminary data there is a threat of an avalanche,
later additional information will be given.
The Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all kinds of vehicles from
yesterday.
According to the data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of
South Ossetia, 282 vehicles accumulated on the Upper Lars checkpoint
on the Russian side, of which 247 were trucks, 32 cars and 3 buses.
