ArmInfo. An academic and practical conference and literary readings dedicated to the life and work of the great poet, philosopher and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy took place in Yerevan under the motto "The life and work of the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Pyragy."
During his welcoming remarks at the opening of the conference, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia Muhammetgeldy Ayazov, first of all, expressed gratitude to the leadership of Yerevan State University for hosting Turkmen colleagues every year in honor of the great Turkmen poet and holding joint events dedicated to Magtymguly Pyragy.
"I would like to note that holding the current conference has become a good tradition and it is already the 10th in a row. The conference dedicated to the Turkmen poet was first held at Yerevan State University in 2014, when the 290th anniversary of the great Magtymguly was celebrated in Turkmenistan.
This year, 2024, marks the 300th anniversary of the outstanding classic of Turkmen literature, and in this regard, Turkmenistan has declared the year "The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Pyragy." (in Turkmenistan it is customary to celebrate each year under some motto marking an event or celebration)," - noted the diplomat.
In this vein, he said that in this regard, anniversary celebrations and various events are being held this year in Turkmenistan and beyond. According to him, this conference is being held as part of these solemn events.
Ayazov also announced that tomorrow, at 19:00, an anniversary concert of classical and folk music and singing will take place in the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.
"Famous cultural figures of Turkmenistan came to Yerevan especially for this concert. Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite everyone present to the concert at 19:00 in the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.
It is gratifying to note that Magtymguly Pyragy's works in Armenian were published in 1959, 1983 and 2014. Among our guests today is the poet and translator Varuzhan Hastur, whose translations were included in the third edition of the collection of Magtymguly's works," Ayazov noted. He also said that for the glorious anniversary of Magtymguly, the Embassy also issued postcards based on Magtymguly Pyragy, on the back of which they printed the costs of the poet's works translated by Varuzhan Hastur and bookmarks for books with the 2024 logo.
