Premier: Yerevan sees and feels Turkiye`s presence in Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process
ArmInfo.Armenia continues the dialogue with Turkiye. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a
press conference on March 12.
"There is a dialogue between us, and it also takes place at the level
of the President of Turkiye. The process is very complex, it cannot
be called easy one, but it is important that the dialogue continues,"
the PM said. He added that looking back, the question inevitably
arises: why is everything so complicated? In this regard, the head
of the Armenian government recalled a photograph taken together with
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the Prague
summit, which caused a huge stir. Even among followers of the current
government, tensions have arisen. "What is strange about this
meeting? On the contrary, it is strange that that there is no
dialogue between the two neighboring states. It even took an effort
to go to the inauguration ceremony of the head of the Turkish state,"
Pashinyan said.
He also reported on the constant contact of the special
representatives of Armenia and Turkiye on the settlement of relations
between the two countries, and there is also a dialogue between the
heads of the Foreign Ministry. "According to some episodes, we
misunderstand each other, and there is a negative energy. But as a
result of dialogue, it decreases. We must have an agenda for
normalizing relations with Turkiye. Sadly, it is not being
implemented at the proper pace," Pashinyan said.
He also noted that Yerevan sees and feels the presence of Turkiye in
the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Bu But relations with Turkiye should not be perceived in terms of
relations with Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.
According to the joint statement of the heads of diplomatic
departments of the United States and Turkiye adopted yesterday,
Washington and Ankara will work together to achieve
Armenian-Azerbaijani peace. "On the South Caucasus, Secretary Blinken
and Minister Fidan committed to work together to promote a balanced
and lasting peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and
concurred that this would promote regional stability, cooperation,
and welfare," the joint statement notes.
