"We need to fight for Tavush in Yerevan": Political scientist forecasts political repressions in Armenia
ArmInfo. 'Narek is the first sign; apparently, new arrests of oppositionists await us'. This forecast
was made by political scientist, founder of the Voskanapat analytical center Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan, touching on today's "democratic" detention of opposition public figure, head of the "Civic Consciousness" organization Narek Samsonyan.
This afternoon, footage of opposition activist Narek Samsonyan being
detained by law enforcement officers spread across social networks.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia described this arrest as "just
the arrest of a person suspected of committing hooliganism".
"In our country, as a rule, such scenes are followed by other scenes:
funerals of the dead, devastated villages and compatriots left
homeless. Nikol began his last fight. He will do everything to win
this fight. The targets will be people who are worried about their
homeland and who are fighting. Narek Samsonyan is the first sign of
this spring. In all likelihood, there will be more arrests in the
coming days. And that is why I say: we need to fight for Tavush in
Yerevan. This is a political problem that must receive a political
solution. Fundamental and final decision," the political scientist
wrote on his Facebook page.
