Gnel Sanosyan: Upon completion of demarcation and delimitation process, there will be no unresolved problems
ArmInfo. Following the meeting of the Delimitation and Demarcation Commission, the departments were
instructed to identify problems that may arise as a result of these works and find solutions. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan told reporters during a briefing.
"All bodies must prepare properly in order to understand what
problems may arise, including with infrastructure. How close will
they be to the border, or will they cross the border, etc.", the
minister said.
To the remarks of journalists that people in Tavush region (where the
process of delimitation and demarcation should begin) are in a state
of uncertainty about their future fate, since there is no contact
with the government, Sanosyan noted that the uncertainty arises due
to the spread of relevant news. He emphasized that what the Prime
Minister said in Tavush is more than clear, and that if decisions are
made, another meeting will be organized. "But since there are no
final decisions and changes, maybe there is no need for daily
meetings with government officials?" he asked, noting that a legal
process is currently underway.
When asked why the delimitation process begins from Tavush, and, for
example, not from the regions of Armenia where there are territories
occupied by Azerbaijanis, Sanosyan noted that there are lands in
Tavush that, according to this process, should be returned to
Armenia. According to the official, at this stage, the department
records problems that may arise. "There will be as many solutions as
there will be problems. I don't think there will be any unresolved
problems," Sanosyan noted.
When asked what should be done by those people if after delimitation
and demarcation their houses pass into the territory controlled by
Azerbaijan, the head of the department noted that houses located
within the Republic of Armenia cannot pass in another territory after
demarcation and delimitation.
"The positive thing about the process of delimitation and demarcation
is that we will live in peaceful conditions, peace is at the core of
this process. This is being done to ensure that there are no disputes
between neighbors," the minister said. However, Sanosyan did not
answer the last question "are there any guarantees?" and hastened to
leave.
During a visit to Tavush region, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol
Pashchinyan said that the real process of delimitation and
demarcation can begin from Tavush, namely from the territory of
Baghanis-Berkaber villages.
