100 pages of atrocities of Baku regime: report has been submitted to ICC prosecutor for consideration
ArmInfo.A 100-page report on military and other crimes of the Baku regime was handed over by
Armenian lawyers to the prosecutor's office of the International Criminal Court.
"This is an exceptional event, since Aliyev is in direct danger,"
said journalist and blogger David Grigoryan from The Hague during a
live broadcast.
According to him, representatives of the Armenian Diaspora in the
Netherlands and Armenian lawyers gathered in front of the ICC office
to talk about Baku's atrocities against ethnic Armenians both during
the period of hostilities and the relatively "peaceful period". Judge
of the Supreme Court of the Orange Administrative District of
California, Kasia Abgaryan is also there. Participants in the action
hold Armenian flags and posters with the inscriptions "Why are
sanctions not imposed against Azerbaijan?", "Hands off from
Armenia," "Azerbaijan, withdraw your troops from Armenia." They are
also holding in their hands a photo of a female soldier brutally
killed by the Azerbaijani servicemen.
During the speech, the representatives of the initiative group noted
that it should not be allowed to repeat the 1915 events. "History has
a habit of repeating itself. To avoid this, the criminal must suffer
a fair punishment," they said.
As Judge Abgaryan clarified, the 100-page report, in particular,
presents documents and evidence about the genocide committed by
Azerbaijan in modern Armenia. She showed a map of the Republic of
Armenia, where the territories of sovereign Armenia, which continue
to remain under the illegal occupation of Azerbaijan, are marked in
red. According to Abgaryan, Baku's policy is to keep the people of
Armenia in the grip of fear. Over time, this fear, as Baku is
confident, will force people to leave their homes, and Aliyev will be
able to advance deeper into the Republic of Armenia, she noted.
"Aliyev's statements are the easiest way to understand his goals -
"give us what we want, otherwise we will take it through war," the
lawyer recalled. "You must not hesitate, otherwise it will be too
late. All of Aliyev's actions and facts fall under the concept of
"genocide". We are here to prevent a new genocide," Kasia Abgaryan,
pointed out. The process at the ICC, she said, could take years. But
it had to be done, and done already <yesterday>. Only an adequate
response to the actions of the Baku regime can prevent new atrocities
and new forced deportations of Armenians from their homes, Abgaryan
concluded.
In September 2022, at a meeting with foreign diplomats and
representatives of international organizations, Chief of the General
Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Eduard Asryan said that
Azerbaijani soldiers, during a new escalation, brutally killed an
Armenian serviceman. "I draw your attention to the atrocities
committed by units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, their servicemen
at our combat positions, against our servicemen, even against female
soldier. I have these photos and video footage on my phone, I can
show you. <:> I will show you this video, there are no words to
describe it all, you can see how they dismembered a female soldier,
cut off her legs, fingers, stripped her naked, this is just the last
degree of atrocity," Asryan said. The video that Asryan spoke about
was filmed by Azerbaijani soldiers and spread on social networks. It
shows the bodies of Armenian soldiers, including two women. One of
the women is undressed, with an inscription on her chest and stomach
(former Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan stated that
the name of the Azerbaijani special forces "Yashma" was written on
the woman's corpse). body). The woman's fingers were cut off and
stuffed into her mouth, and her eye was gouged out. According to
media reports, the body in the video belongs to 36-year-old Anush
Habetyan, a mother of three children. It was reported that she was
captured in the city of Jermuk, raped and tortured.
