Forecast: Possible aggravation of situation around Syria does not endanger Georgia
"Even if the situation aggravates in the Syrian conflict region, I suppose Georgia, which is a member of neither NATO nor the CSTO, is unlikely to be directly involved in the conflict, Georgian analyst Vaso Kapanadze has told ArmInfo in an online interview organized by the "Region" Research Center.
"The Middle East chaos threatens the security of not only the South Caucasus region but also globally. Therefore, the most important thing for us is to prevent the tense situation in Syria from developing into a large-scale conflict between Russia and Turkey," he says.
In this light, the analyst points out that the recently reached agreement on stabilization of the situation in Syria creates prerequisites for keeping the situation under control.
