Armenian Revival Party: To conduct free and transparent elections in Armenia, authorities should display political will
The Nagorny Karabakh conflict should be resolved through peace talks only, Mher Shahgeldyan, MP, said during the meeting of the Armenian parliamentarians with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in Yerevan on March 1, according to the Armenian Revival Party press-office.
Shahgeldyan said the Armenian Revival Party strongly condemns the vote fraud during the Constitutional referendum of December 6, 2015 in Armenia.
"To ensure transparent and democratic election processes, it is necessary to add some provisions to the new Election Code that would become legal obstacles to the election rigging during the 2016 local self- government elections and 2017 parliamentary elections," he said. To that end, the parliamentarian said, the opposition forces are cooperating over the new Election Code.
Speaking of free and transparent elections processes, the Armenian parliamentarian said these criteria can be ensured only in case of political will of the authorities.
