Prime Minister: Armenia is interested in trilateral cooperation with Iran and Turkmenistan
ArmInfo.Armenia is interested in trilateral cooperation with Iran and Turkmenistan,
Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said at a meeting with
Iranian and Turkmen Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to
Armenia, Seyed Kazem Sajjadi and Muhammetniyaz Mashalov.
As the press office of the Armenian Government reports, Karapetyan
stressed that there are all opportunities for increasing Armenia's
commodity turnover with Iran and Turkmenistan.
"This first meeting in the new year demonstrates the significance of
our cooperation," Karapetyan stressed, pointing at the high level of
political interaction among the three states, which allows promoting
trilateral economic cooperation.
The ambassadors of Iran and Turkmenistan congratulated Karen
Karapetyan and Armenian people on the New Year and Christmas
holidays. They noted that their governments give high priority to
promotion of partnership with Armenia and they are willing to discuss
the further steps to that end. The interlocutors discussed the
opportunities and prospects of development of trilateral cooperation
in power engineering.
In particular, the meeting covered issues related to supply of energy
resources and implementation of joint programs. The sides agreed to
set up a working group to discuss specific projects. Karen Karapetyan
thanked the ambassadors for their position and also stressed the
importance of activities of the intergovernmental commissions, which
are an effective platform to implement the outlined programs.
Karapetyan expressed his condolences to the Iranian ambassador over
the death of the former president of Iran Ali Akbar Hashemi
Rafsanjani.
