Gagik Tsarukyan to run in parliamentary elections
ArmInfo.Gagik Tsarukyan is opening the closed page of political activities and will run in the parliamentary elections.
In a statement set to ArmInfo, Tsarukyan notes that he does not
regret his previous decision to leave the political field, but he
decided to return to mainstream politics because "nature abhors a
vacuum". "Following my decision, not a single political force or a
politician was able to fill the gap," he says, noting that he does
not regret the fact "that at that stage of political events and amid
public support we were able to take a correct decision and to prevent
bloodshed and irreparable losses. Neither did we endanger the
stability and security of Armenia and Artsakh."
The politician notes that he cannot be indifferent to the fate and to
the future of Armenian people. In this context, Tsarukyan points out
that the parliamentary elections will be crucial for Armenia. "Given
the internal and external threats faced by Armenia, as well as the
public demand about my return to the mainstream politics, I have made
a decision to open the closed page and to run in the parliamentary
elections, forming a wide bloc," he stresses, adding that he is
willing to cooperate with all political forces concerned over the
country's future.
To note, Tsarukyan left politics after a conflict with President
Serzh Sargsyan, when he decided to join the radical opposition.
Earlier ArmInfo's sources close to the presidential administration
reported that Tsarukyan reached an agreement with President Serzh
Sargsyan regarding his return to mainstream politics and
consolidation with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia after the
parliamentary elections of 2017.
