There were numerous headlines on how Aishwarya Rai Bachchan married two trees (one in Benaras, one in Bangalore) before the real wedding. It was said that she wedded a clay urn as well. It was reported that some women's group also filed a case against her for promoting superstition. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan later said that the news was not needed. She was quoted as saying, "To dedicate the kind of prime time, the kind of newsprint, the kind of magazine cover stories for all of that was very unnecessary. The wonderful part was that, as a family, we are solid."
