Aimed at Android switchers, Apple's 'Move to iOS' app transfers some of their data and content to an iPhone or iPad.

In a couple of hours the leaders of two of the most important technology companies in the world, Microsoft and Salesforce, will get up on stage together and share a metaphorical (and, perhaps, a literal) man-hug. Anyone who has been watching the space for a while will know that the very thought of these two coming together would have been pure fiction only a few short years ago — the companies were fierce rivals.

Microsoft’s Azure Active Directory identity management platform now allows businesses to authenticate customers using popular consumer applications, such as Facebook and Google’s suite of services.

Apple released iOS 9 today at 1 p.m. ET, but in the first hour users reported that they were unable to grab the 1GB download.

The SYNful Knock compromise of routers can implant software that creates backdoors to let attackers return over and over, a sophisticated endeavor that demonstrates the ingenuity of its creators, according to a member of the team that discovered the attack in the wild.

Virtual reality (VR), one of the technologies that always seems to be waiting in the wings, is finally ready for business prime time. Several new products are available for viewing content from Samsung, HTC, and even Google. Companies like WordViz and Giant Spoon helping generate content. While the initial uses might have more to do with a first-person shooter or a Hollywood movie, business uses are starting to emerge.

A recent poll by Wakefield Research delved into the psyche of the American voter asking them many questions about who will lead them through cyberspace the next four years. According to the survey, which was sponsored by PKWARE, the majority (64 percent) of registered U.S. voters believe it is likely that a 2016 presidential campaign will be hacked.

If you listen to the hype surrounding OpenStack, it’s nothing less than a panacea offering fast, relatively easy, cost-efficient tools for deploying enterprise apps as cloud services. Some analysts are far less bullish, arguing that building a private cloud with OpenStack is a daunting task.

Improved integration between Apple’s iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan will inevitably drive more Macs into the enterprise.

“Apple’s dominance in enterprise mobility is unparalleled,” says Box CEO Aaron Levie. Apple’s devices are already the most popular mobile platforms across the enterprise, but Mac sales have climbed while the PC industry contracts for a decade, so an enterprise migration seems inevitable.

Spyware, malware, phishing and, more recently, ransomware -- the list of online threats can be confusing and daunting. Knowing what you’re up against is half the battle. Each of these types of attacks have specific characteristics:

Comcast Business, which began offering communications services to small businesses in its regional footprint in 2007 and broadened its portfolio in 2010 to appeal to larger organizations in that local realm, on Tuesday announced an Enterprise Services unit that will go after Fortune 1000 companies regardless of geography.

Hewlett-Packard is cutting 25,000 to 30,000 jobs in its enterprise division because of revenue declines. Most of the personnel cuts will be in its enterprise services unit, whose employees often work directly with HP corporate customers.
