Apple iPhone San Bernadino order: Tim Cook tiptoes around the facts
Apple forced to unlock iPhone of Syed Rizwan Farook, a suspect in the December 2 San Bernadino terrorist shootings. However, Tim Cook doesn’t seem to be talking straight—saying his crew can’t assist the FBI any more, and worrying that use of the law behind the court’s action was “unprecedented.”
Sadly for Tim, it seems neither statement is exactly correct. There are several recent legal precedents, and there are other technical possibilities that Apple could help the FBI with.
Well, this is awkward. You’d be forgiven for thinking that Apple was simply being cynically opportunistic.
