As the conflict in Ukraine continues, Google is rolling out an Android feature it hopes will help people in the country stay safe. Ukraine's government asked Google to deploy an air raid alert system on Android phones, and it worked with the company to do so. Google says the feature complements the existing air strike alerts — it's based on alerts the government is already providing to its residents.

Lego's Super Mario sets have been around for roughly two years, but there's been a conspicuous omission: namely, any of the leading women from the video games. The company is rectifying that soon, thankfully. Lego has marked Mar10 Day by introducing Princess Peach to its Super Mario Adventures range. Buy her Starter Course and you can defeat opponents like Lemmy, collect fruit, earn coins and ride a swing set.

Nintendo fans in the US will soon be able to step into the world of Mario and Luigi. Universal Studios Hollywood announced that Super Nintendo World—a ride and interactive area in the style of the Super Mario videogames—will debut at the California theme park in 2023. It’ll be the first Nintendo-themed park in the US and will follow last year’s launch of the first Super Nintendo World in Japan.

It's now realistic to install Windows on a Steam Deck, provided you're wiling to live with certain limitations. Valve has released Windows drivers for the handheld's Bluetooth, graphics and WiFi, helping you use the system properly if the Linux-based SteamOS isn't to your liking. The developer has also shared instructions on how to install Windows on its gaming machine.

Nintendo has stopped shipping its products, including the Switch, to Russia for the foreseeable future. "This is due to considerable volatility surrounding the logistics of shipping and distributing physical goods," the company told Eurogamer. It made the decision two weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine, though it didn't mention the crisis in its statement.

Pinterest is moving deeper into e-commerce with some more features it announced at its annual advertiser summit. The platform says users have long been asking for a way to shop directly on Pinterest and you can now complete some purchases without leaving the app. 

The Quest 2 headset's fitness tracking has been helpful for staying in shape, but there's been a major catch: your stats weren't viewable outside the headset, making it impractical to check your progress or combine it with info from other apps. That won't be an issue before long. As of April, Meta will make your Oculus Move fitness tracking data available through the Oculus app on Android and iOS, and will sync progress with Apple Health on iOS.

Despite months of silence and years of delays, Overwatch 2 is definitely still a thing and Blizzard finally has a substantial update to share. The beta for the sequel's 5-on-5 PvP mode will go live in late April on PC, and interested players are able to sign up today via the official site. 

NVIDIA is making it easier for folks to try out the highest-end version of its GeForce Now game streaming service. There's now a month-to-month payment option for GeForce Now RTX 3080. Until now, NVIDIA only offered six months of access for $100. Now, it costs $20 per month to try that tier. As the name implies, the NCAA's March Madness (aka the Division I men's basketball tournament) is chock full of games that may be difficult to follow — thankfully, that might not be an issue if you have the right device. The sports association, Turner and CBS Sports are expanding a feature in the NCAA March Madness Live app that lets you watch two games at once (one without audio) on more platforms. Red Rocks Amphitheater, one of the most recognizable concert venues in the US, no longer plans to use Amazon’s palm scanning technology for ticketless entry. Activists and artists including Fight for the Future, Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) and Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill) pressured Denver Arts and Venues to refrain from using Amazon One at the venues it manages.

Samsung doesn't seem to have wasted any time delivering its promised performance throttling update. XDAreports users on Samsung's Korean community forums are receiving an update for the Galaxy S22 series that adds a "Game Performance Management Mode" to Game Booster. The release should let users override throttling and wring more speed out of the flagship phones, at least so long as they're willing to accept reduced battery life and more heat.

Google has released a bunch of new features and updates for several of its products, including the ability to pay for parking using your voice. You can now simply say "Hey Google, pay for parking" in ParkMobile street parking zones and then follow Assistant's prompts. After you complete the transaction using Google Pay, you can ask Assistant to check your parking status or to extend your time anytime you want. 

Chatting with an iPhone user has always been frustrating for Android device owners, because iMessage emojis appear as text on Google Messages. As it previewed last month in a beta, Google has started rolling out a feature for Messages that translates iMessaging "Tapbacks" as emojis. It will first arrive to Android devices set to English, "with additional languages to follow," Google wrote in a blog post.

The European Commission has sent Google a request to remove Russian state media results for searches performed in countries within the EU. TikTok now has its own music distribution platform. The social network has launched SoundOn, which allows artists to upload their music directly to TikTok and to distribute it to various music streaming services. ByteDance, the app's parent company, won't be charging artists any distribution or transaction fees. Artists will get 100 percent of their royalties for an unlimited time when TikTok creators use their music for their videos, as well as for whatever they earn on ByteDance's music streaming service Resso. Apple's new 27-inch 5K Studio Display — including its 12-megapixel webcam and fancy speakers — should work just fine with Windows PCs, Apple has told The Verge. However, certain features enabled by the monitor's built-in A13 Bionic processor will only function on Macs, Apple said.

In November, former PlayStation IT security analyst Emma Majo filed a lawsuit against Sony, claiming the company discriminated against women at an institutional level. Fears that Russia could steal top-secret government documents has caused Ukrainian authorities to explore potentially moving its data and servers to another country, reportedReuters. While the original plan is still to protect the country’s IT infrastructure, moving the most sensitive data to another location is a viable Plan B, Victor Zhora— the deputy chief of Ukraine's information protection arm—told the news service.
