Diddy Just Received an Updated Prison Release Date
It looks like embattled music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will be released from prison earlier than expected.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons recently updated Combs' release date from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to April 15, 2028. This date has been subject to multiple changes, having previously been set for May 8, 2028, then April 25, 2028, and most recently, June 4, 2028.
Diddy is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence following his 2025 conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. His legal team has appealed the sentence, and a trial date has been scheduled for April 9.
Diddy Receives Support From Usher
During an interview with Forbes journalist Jabari Young on The Enterprise Zone, Usher was asked about his former mentor Diddy. The R&B crooner's response was simply "legacy." Diddy had allowed Usher to live with him in the early 1990s as the artist was working to establish his career in the music business.
“In many ways, I think certain people are prosecuted and maybe not recognized for the greatness that they offer,” he said. “I don’t have anything negative to say about Sean Combs because my experience was not what the world has seen and how he’ s been misrepresented.”
He continued: “I’m not saying that every man is perfect. I’m not saying that all of us don’t have flaws. But I can’t with any sense of humanity not recognize the valuable contributions that this man made for us as Black entrepreneurs, for us as businessmen, for us as people who have transitioned culture and ideas into something that’s tangible.”
The Confessions hitmaker said a multitude of people “benefitted from what he created” and said he was a “really, really hard teacher.”
“That’s who I see that man as. And that’s what I choose to remember,” Usher stated. “I put respect on his name because I realized that what I learned as a businessman before I even understood what business was came as a result of seeing the incredible things that he was able to do and the way that he positioned himself as a businessman.”
A spokesperson for Diddy told TMZ that he’s “always had love and respect for Usher.”
“I appreciate his words and everything he’s achieved,” he said.
Diddy Has Allegations of Misconduct While In Prison
Reports claim Diddy was caught drinking "homemade alcohol" in November 2025 while incarcerated, an allegation his team dismissed as "false and reckless." This incident was reportedly followed by Diddy allegedly engaging in a three-way phone call.
A statement from Diddy’s spokesperson, Judah Englemeyer, detailed his daily prison activities. This was made in accordance with Bureau of Prisons rules, which restrict all calls to a maximum of two people.
“He is in the drug treatment program, and he is working in the chapel library,” he explained. “The phone call he was on was initiated by an attorney, and it was attorney-client privilege and appropriate.”
Diddy was reportedly eligible for early release because he had taken part in the drug rehabilitation program.
