G-Shock has never been afraid of bold design—but its latest release might be its most interesting yet. The new GMWBZ5000RC1 takes the brand’s iconic full-metal square and adds a subtle rainbow finish that shifts in the light without feeling over the top. Powered by tough solar tech and built with the durability G-Shock is known for, this watch blends street style and everyday functionality in a way few pieces can. It’s eye-catching, but still easy to wear—and that’s exactly why it’s getting attention.
To achieve the gradient rainbow effect, the brand layers ion plating (IP) first with a gold base and then topped with a multi-color IP coating. The result creates shifting tones and dimensional luminosity across the metal. The technique also creates subtle variation from piece to piece. So every watch is unique.

The classic 5000 style 49.3 x 43.6 mm case is crafted in stainless steel as is the bracelet, which is outfitted with a one-touch, tri-folding clasp. The silvery metal is accented with gold IP front screws and rainbow vapor-deposited crystal, boosting the design’s city-chic vibe. The hallmark brick-patterned dial uses a high-definition memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD to render information with crisp contrast.
Inside, the movement is guarded with an internal resin protector for G-Shock's legendary impact resistance. The watch uses multiband 6 radio control for automatic updates to timekeeping. The GMWBZ5000RC1 runs on Casio’s Tough Solar technology and its rechargeable battery is good for six months when fully juiced up and pairs with the Smartphone Link app for even more personalization.
Manufactured at Yamagata Casio, the original G-Shock factory, the model is water resistant to 200 meters water resistance, displays two world times selected from 55 cities and offers a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer 5 daily alarms (with one snooze alarm), and a fully-automatic LED backlight.
The G-Shock GMWBZ5000RC1 is available now at casio.com and at select G-Shock retailers for $880.
