The Ballia police on Thursday booked as many as 13 identified and five unidentified persons in the suicide of trader Nandlal Gupta in Ballia district. These persons have been booked for abetment of suicide, cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal intimidation.

Two nurses working at the SSG Hospital in Vadodara were booked by the Raopura Police for allegedly submitting fake certificates to get a promotion in their job. An SSG Class II Officer registered a complaint of forgery against Hansa Solanki and Kalpana Gupta who have been working at the SSG Hospital for years. According to the police, Solanki submitted a certificate of the Gujarat Council of Vocational Training Centre (Gcvtc) in the hospital while Solanki submitted the fake certificate in 2016. The Nepalese national, Jannat Khatun, has been detained in a transit camp in Silchar Central Jail for over two years now. The Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, Rajkumar Singh, has written to the Nepalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, seeking intervention for her release. Jannat Khatun has a mental illness, and has been detained near the India-Bangladesh border.

A marriage procession in a village in India got into a big fight when some people from a higher caste objected to a groom from a lower caste riding a horse. Ten people were arrested and the incident is being investigated.
