Broken water main in Rayne repaired, boil advisory remains
A broken water main in Rayne has caused flooding near the streets.
UPDATE, 1/31/24, 3:45 p.m.: The damaged water main is now repaired. Water service has been fully restored, but a boil advisory remains in affect for the following areas:
- West of Marshall Street and South of West Butler Street
- Martin Petijean Elementary
- Noon Street and Samuel Thomas Street
UPDATE, 1/31/24, 7:30 a.m.: Crews working overnight restored full water pressure to the system, with the exception of Olga Street, authorities said. Permanent repairs to the line will require customers on Olga Street to be without water until they are completed.
ORIGINAL STORY: RAYNE, La. (KLFY) – A broken water main in Rayne has caused flooding in some of the town's streets.
According to the City of Rayne Facebook page, crews have been dispatched to a break in the force main near W. Branche and Live Oak. The break was caused by contractors that were working in the area. Water pressure may be affected and some discoloration is expected.
Crews are currently working to repair the damage.

As a result of the break, a boil advisory has been issued for the area west of Marshall Street and South of West Butler Street, as well as Martin Petitjean Elementary, Noon Street and Samuel Thomas Street.
