Shootout in Opelousas results in injury, OHS lockdown lifted
Opelousas Police said they received a report of gunfire exchanged between two vehicles at the intersection of I-49 and Judson Walsh Drive earlier today.
OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- At least one person was injured, and Opelousas High School was placed on lockdown, after a nearby shootout Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Opelousas Police said they received a report of gunfire exchanged between two vehicles at the intersection of I-49 and Judson Walsh Drive earlier today. One unidentified person was reported injured as a result of the shooting. In response to the ongoing situation Opelousas High School was placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted, police said.
OPD urges residents to remain indoors and avoid the area surrounding I-49 and Judson Walsh Drive until further notice. Additional updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
