LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- A part of Judice Middle School sustained significant amounts of damage Wednesday night after an electrical failure of fan led to a fire, according to the Lafayette Fire Department.
Around 9:45 p.m., multiple fire departments were sent to Judice Middle School after the alarm went off, and when firefighters got there, they noticed smoke coming from the building. Firefighters found the fire in a storage room for band instruments.
Although the fire was put out quickly, LFD said the room and multiple instruments were heavily damaged. The immediate area also sustained smoke and water, according to fire officials.
LFD determined an electrical failure of a fan in the storage room ignited combustible material.
