'Data issue' with machines affects thousands of Travis County registered voters on Super Tuesday
According to the Travis County Clerk's Office, there were issues countywide, affecting roughly 1% of registered voters on Super Tuesday.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Karen West couldn't vote before work on Super Tuesday like she planned.
"It was like, wow, this is kind of frustrating, because this is what people have been complaining about with these election machines," West said.
According to the Travis County Clerk's Office, there were issues countywide, affecting roughly 1% of registered voters on Super Tuesday. Around 890,000 people are registered to vote in Travis County, meaning the issue affected close to 9,000 people.
"Our team quickly identified the issue and pushed out a solution. Voters who had an issue while checking in to vote were asked to wait while the solution was implemented and offered the option to vote provisionally if they were unable to wait. As of 10:30 a.m., the issue has been fully resolved."

West was eventually able to vote at a different location after work. But the issues left some skeptical.
"For the past two weeks in early voting here in Travis county— especially here in Lago Vista — we didn't experience any issues that I was aware of, to have this issue pop up on election day, just seemed very odd," voter Jeanette Drake said.
Voters at both Lago Vista High School and Christ Church in Lago Vista dealt with issues, according to voters and officials on site.
KXAN received multiple reports via reportit@kxan.com from viewers across Travis County experiencing voting issues.
KXAN reporter Jala Washington voted around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, and was met by voters who were still dealing with machine issues at the Austin Rec Center polling location in downtown Austin. According to staff on site, the issue was brief.
The Texas GOP tweeted it heard reports of some Republicans being unable to vote due to an update to the voter rolls. It recommended people vote by a provisional ballot in that case.
KXAN reached out to Travis County to find out what happened. The County Clerk's Office said voters should tell staff on site at any polling location if they're having problems, oor call their office directly at 512-238-8683.
