AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Public Safety reported multiple serious injuries after a commercial motor vehicle crashed into a DPS office Friday.
DPS said on social media the building was its Brenham location, which is at 975 US Highway 290. Brenham is located about an hour northwest of Houston and about two hours east of Austin.
The department said to stay clear of the area while investigators and medical personnel respond.
According to DPS, the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident, and a suspect has been arrested.
Texas Senator Lois Kolkhorst said in a social media post a person driving a stolen 18-wheeler crashed through the DPS office.
Kolkhorst said three people were life-flighted with critical injuries while three others were taken to local hospitals in stable condition.
"DPS reports that no staff suffered serious injury; one staffer had been trapped for a period of time inside the office," Kolkhorst said in the post. "According to law enforcement, this appears to be an intentional, criminal act."
