Austin firefighters respond to reported gas line hit in west Austin
AFD said there was a report that workers hit a gas line in the front yard of a home.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Fire Department is asking people to avoid the area where a gas line was reportedly hit in west Austin on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., AFD reported the "hazmat task force" call was in the 2900 block of Wade Avenue. That's near the Tarrytown neighborhood.
AFD said there was a report that workers hit a gas line in the front yard of a home.
In an update, AFD said workers hit a three-inch gas line, and the leak was slowed and contained.
The Austin Transportation and Public Works Department and Texas Gas Service are also responding to the area.
