Light truck ban along EDSA, Shaw Boulevard back on May 24–MMDA
A ban on light trucks along EDSA and Shaw Boulevard will take effect starting on May 24, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Wednesday.
In an advisory, the MMDA will prohibit trucks which have a gross capacity weight of 4,500 kilograms from passing through EDSA from Magallanes, Makati City up to North Avenue, Quezon City, both northbound and southbound, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Light trucks are also prohibited on Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City to Pasig City from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
“The uniform light trucks ban shall be enforced from Monday to Saturday except Sundays and holidays. A violation of the regulation carries a P2,000 fine,” the MMDA added.
The MMDA resumed its truck ban policy on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila on May 17. It is enforced along EDSA, from Magallanes Interchange in Makati City to North Avenue in Quezon City for 24 hours from Monday to Sunday.
Only trucks carrying perishable and agricultural goods are exempted from the ban.
