Schoolboy, 16, fighting for life ‘after being stabbed by boy and girl’
Two teens have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a stabbing took place in south Liverpool.
Police said the boy is in critical condition after arrived at an address in Aigburth with two stab wounds to his chest.
Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of of attempted murder. They are said to be a boy and a girl, both aged 16.
A police cordon is currently in place on Hailsham Road, where one neighbour said: ‘Kids hang around there and throw stuff at the houses. We haven’t seen them in weeks though.’
Other residents said they found the incident ‘shocking’ and ‘hard to believe’.
‘This is normally such a quiet residential area,’ said a local business owner who declined to be named. ‘It’s really shocking that something like this could happen so close by.’
Robert McAllister-Bell, councillor for Mossley Hill, said he and fellow councillor Dave Antrobus were ‘deeply shocked’ by the incident.
‘This type of violence is unprecedented in our community and has understandably left residents deeply disturbed and concerned,’ Mr McAllister-Bell told Metro.
‘We have been engaging with the local community, listening to their concerns and offering reassurance.
‘In light of these events, we urge anyone with information to come forward and speak with the police, assisting in their efforts to bring justice and prevent future occurrences. We want to reassure everyone that such incidents are highly unusual in our area.’
‘I also wish to express my gratitude to our emergency services for their response in providing help in the immediate aftermath and their ongoing commitment to the investigation and medical care.
‘Our hearts go out to all affected by this tragedy, and we keep the 16-year-old and his family in our thoughts and prayer.’
Detective Inspector Michael Fletcher said: ‘At this stage we are looking to establish the circumstances of what appears to have been a targeted attack.
‘A 16-year-old boy is sadly in a critical condition in hospital and we are determined to get answers for him and his family.
‘Although we have arrested two people in connection with this incident, we are still in the early stages of the investigation and would appeal for anyone with information to please come forward.
‘As part of our ongoing inquiries, we are trying to establish the location of the stabbing, so if you live in the area and have CCTV or dashcam footage, please review it to see if you captured anything from last night. If you have any information, please get in touch as a matter of urgency.’
