UFC 215 main event, and being smarter fans
Some thoughts on the fight, the decision, and fans’ reactions to every close fight going to the judges:
The bottom line is she didn’t adjust soon enough. She expected bullrush Nunes, she got well-paced Nunes. She needed to force Nunes to tire. Valentina needed to push the pace and force Nunes to react and expend energy. Instead she just waited and waited expected Nunes to blitz and get tired, but Nunes was content walking Valentina down, striking point for point, and saving energy.
Also, this late into the game we all need to stop with the "robbery rhetoric." Anytime a fight is close we have to accept that the score will go either way basically on a coin flip. MMA judging is FAR too subjective for anyone to say a close fight is clearly one fighter’s win.
I think Bullet will be a great champ at 125. I think that makes the best sense for HER and for the UFC. A lineup of WMMA champs from Joanna – Bullet – Nunes – Cyborg is a pretty solid marketing lineup.
Random thought:
I am tired of rules violations going unpunished. 99 percent of rules violations in MMA go unpunished and I think that is just bullshit. Start docking points automatically for breaking the rules and I swear the "accidents" will stop happening. Fighters will change, just like NFL players change their training based on rule changes in football (tackling/targetting comes to mind). Start docking points for eye pokes and fighters will start training with their fists closed at all times. Start docking for fence grabs and fighters will train with their fist closed pushing against fence for leverage rather than grabbing.
