It's time now for everyone to drop the word "boring" from all future DJ discussions.
I'm the last person who would say this, but I'm saying it now. Everyone in the MMA community, including reporters, needs to drop the discussion about DJ and his lack of entertainment value. It's over, it's done. Get over it.
DJ tooled the one guy who everyone thought had the greatest chance. DJ whipped Dodson. As I like to say, it was NC. No contest. When DJ made reference to his face at the end of the fight, that's no joke. That's a win on more than one level.
The boring discussion and questions about his lack of popularity? Get over it. It's been overdone. It simply doesn't need to be said again. You know why?
It's one word. It's called RESPECT. Give this guy some freaking respect. And yes, I'm pointing the finger at the media also. Get over it. Ask him questions other than crowd reactions or his popularity. At this point, it should be about every topic aside from his popularity.
I'll let some of you in on a secret. The reason his fights aren't entertaining in the same way as other fights? It's because of his abilities. His ability to move and not get hit. So if you're saying he's boring, it's because he's too good.He can't be pinned down. He refused to be pinned down. Simply said, he doesn't need to be pinned down just to please those wanting carnage in the cage.
If this last DJ fight didn't make you realize why his fights turn out a certain way, then clearly the sport passed you by. Boring is holding a guy down on the ground or against the fence. DJ isn't doing that. He's not getting hit and that to some means it's a frustrating spectacle. Fine.
However, out of respect for the athlete and warrior, consider finding something else to bitch about. Leave DJ alone. That's my point. He's human. Enough with the boring talk. If you can't find it in yourself to let that entertainment discussion go, then you have no credibility in my eyes. Go ahead and analyze fights, but I'm not listening.
