In response to People complaining about the reebok deal / Bendan Schaub.
Howdy, I've been lurking around these here parts for awhile now, and I'm pretty sure there is only one course of action that the UFC must take to stop all these complaints about the shitty fighter pay. So the main problem is Dana White is a Jackass that can't disperse the money properly, so lets just get that out of the way real quick. The second problem, as many of you know, is that there are too many fighters currently under contract. Let's take a look at the roster. (These may change in the next week or so depending on cuts / fighters announcing retirement etc.)
Heavy weights: 35
Light heavy weights: 33
Middle weights: 54
Welter weights: 102
Light weights: 92
Feather weights: 67
Bantam weights: 61
Fly weights: 35
Women's bantam weights: 25
Women's Straw weights: 31
Total: 535
Conclusion: This is supposed to be the "Best of the Best," why do we need 54 middle weights? 102 welterweights!
92 Lightweights! 67 Feather weights? 61 Bantam weights? Let's be serious, WE DO NOT NEED Flyweights.(Screw you "mighty mouse.") You can't pay these guys well, if you're dealing with all this excess baggage. In all honesty, we need a realistic number for all these divisions considering this is the "Cream of the Crop."
Why can't the number be 25 or 30 for each division? Why not make the top 25 or 30 the pay per view fighters? I mean, put the bottom 15 fighters in each division in prelims, and top 15 fighters in each division to headline.
The rest is excess that I don't wanna see. The UFC needs some sort of minor leagues ( fightpass / regular TV.) to put all these other fighters. Amir sadollah Should not be in the "MAJOR" leagues, sorry. Give the insurance and money to the top fighters, and let's say the minor league guys (about 25 in each division) get the shit pay. Maybe they "restructure" the Reebok deal and give the bottom guys some sort of way to make extra money on the side or something.
Maybe minor league guys next to nothing but allow them to get sponsored. Once they're in the big show, Reebok Retardation takes over, and they can make their side money like HONDA or CONNAR . The future of this sport is making money off of advertising like ronda. Many pro athletes have deals with phone companies, fast food ads, etc.
