On December 28, at 13.00, the new 30 buses of Sofia Metro were be presented, they will run on natural gas.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis admitted last month his country was not ready to assume the six-month EU presidency. EU officials allege Romania is not taking steps to fight corruption and uphold judicial independence, reported DW. 

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Saturday, monitors said, adding that a tsunami threat was possible for parts of the Philippines and neighbouring Indonesia, AFP reported.

The quake struck southeast of Davao City at a depth of 59 kilometres (35 miles), the US Geological Survey said, while the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said "hazardous tsunami waves from this earthquake are possible" along the coasts of Indonesia and the Philippines.

Egyptian police killed 40 "terrorists" in separate raids early Saturday, a day after a roadside bomb near the Giza pyramids killed three Vietnamese tourists and their guide, the interior ministry said, reports AFP. 

Mass tax control begins in the winter resorts at the beginning of the new year. There will be over 15,000 planned inspections by the National Revenue Agency (NRA) by the end of the season, announced the NRA, reports Mediapool.

The trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad in November 2018 amounted to 426.3 thousand, or 2.1 percent more than those registered in November 2017, the National Statistical Institute reported.
 
Compared to November 2017, there was an increase in all observed targets.
 
In the monitored month, visits of foreigners to Bulgaria amounted to 575.2 thousand, or 3.4% more than in November 2017.

Water prices are rising by up to 10% in 26 locations in 2019. This was decided by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission in a closed sitting on 28th of December. The largest increase of water prices is in Burgas and Sofia – by 10%. The most expensive will be the water supply service in Shumen, where a cubic metre of water will cost 3.40 BGN, reports BNT. 

 The bronze statue of Apollo Medicus, which was stolen on December 16, will be returned to its place at the mineral water fountains in the centre of Sofia, Mayor Yordanka Fandakova wrote on Facebook. According to her post, the statue was found yesterday by police officers from the 5th police department.
