Martial and Malacia start | Expected Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Everton
Manchester United will be eyeing a second-straight Premier League win when they host Everton in today’s early kick-off.
The Red Devils beat Brentford by a 1-0 scoreline in midweek. Marcus Rashford made the difference with his 28th goal of the campaign.
United are now three points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand and have the chance to extend the advantage.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
David de Gea had another impressive outing between the sticks on Wednesday. His distribution was not up to scratch but he made a crucial block in the second half.
The Spain international has the chance to go level with Nick Pope in the Golden Glove race with his 13th clean sheet of the top-flight campaign.
In defence, there will be an enforced change with Luke Shaw ruled out with a hamstring injury. Tyrell Malacia looks set to start in the left-back role. The rest of the backline could stay the same.
Raphael Varane will partner Lisandro Martinez in central defence. Diogo Dalot looks set to get the nod over Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back spot.
Scott McTominay was hugely impressive in the number six position in midweek and he is likely to continue in the position ahead of Fred once again.
He is likely to be partnered by Marcel Sabitzer, who has two goal involvements in his last three appearances for United across all competitions.
Casemiro is suspended for the game while Christian Eriksen could feature off the bench, having just returned to training following an ankle injury.
Bruno Fernandes has recently played in a deeper midfield role but he could be given more freedom against the Toffees who will line up more defensively.
We anticipate the Portuguese to start in his preferred number 10 position this afternoon with Antony and Marcus Rashford playing either side of him.
Jadon Sancho barely made an impact in the midweek outing and Ten Hag could be tempted to pick Anthony Martial to lead the line after two cameos off the bench.
Martial has an excellent record against the Toffees. The Frenchman has scored seven goals and provided four assists in his 15 meetings against the Merseyside outfit.
