Gary Neville mocks Old Trafford decay as Sky Sports cameras spot embarrassing incident after Man Utd loss
Manchester United have struggled to get plenty of things right on and off the pitch since 2013, and their performance in the 3-0 loss to Manchester City at Old yesterday did not surprise many.
The Glazers were called out once again following the defeat, and Gary Neville was in stitches after the leaking roof at Old Trafford was pointed out to him during his post-match assessment of the derby.
The former Man United captain took to social media platform X to react after Sky Sports cameras spotted the leak.
The Glazers have left the club and their facilities in decay, and Old Trafford desperately needs substantial work right now.
The Theatre of Dreams is a crumbling edifice, and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani would have been the perfect owner for Man United right now as the Qataris have more than enough cash to splash on the rebuilding job needed on and off the pitch.
However, the Glazers are not ready to let go of their cash cow anytime soon, with the club hoping revenues for 2023-24 will hit between £650m and £680m and believing they would pass £1 billion in revenue by the end of the financial year for 2027.
The Man United American owners are looking to sell 25% of their shares to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and while the
control of the club’s football operations will be yielded to the British billionaire if the process is approved, the Glazers will continue to call the shots.
While other Premier League clubs have modernised their facilities in recent years, Old Trafford continues to look like a relic of the past, and things may not change anytime soon with the current owners still bent on holding on to the club.
