European Court failed to approve candidates from Georgia again
The judges nominated as candidates to the European Human Rights still remain in the status of candidates. The approval process has been delayed again, this time the officially named reason was the lack of quorum. The candidates nominated by the Georgian authorities- Giorgi Badashvili, Eva Gotsiridze and Alexander Baramidze have been waiting for the decision of Paris over 4 months. The next hearing of the candidates is scheduled for January 22.
The opposition and non-government sector suggest that the technical problem is not the main reason for the postponement of the hearing but the composition of judges presented to the European Court structure.
The rejection of candidates is not confirmed by the ruling party. GD believe that the fact that selection process in the European Human Rights Court jwas postponed two times only for technical reasons.
If the meeting is postponed on January 22, it is dupposed to be held in the next 2 days. If the selection of candidates is not approved by January 24 , then the government will have to submit a new list.
