Remastering old songs
I’ve been writing songs on a fairly frequent basis since the spring of 2012 when I and a group of muso mates started an Arts Night event in our village. The event never quite reached critical mass although it was great fun while it lasted. One of the concepts we brought to the monthly meetings was to come up with a theme for the next event and to create some music, poetry, or other art to share.
I got into that quite heavily and have kept up the momentum at a fair pace ever since. I have a couple of hundred original songs on BandCamp and SoundCloud etc. There were quite a few musical dead ends, which I never made into finished songs. I’ve been trawling through my archives in case any of those happen to be interesting ideas that might be developed further. But, I’m yet to find any.
What I have found, however, are the original mixes of the songs that I did release and listening to them now, I realise I have a few more mixing and mastering skills years later and so have been revisiting some of my old songs to improve the overall sound. I’ve got a long way to go, but here are a few that I hope I’ve mastered into a better shape than the original version.
