2021 Toyota Trail Editions convenient for commuters, haulers
Creating pickups with features separating them from others on the road is a focus for Toyota. With this as a goal, the manufacturer has announced special Trail Edition 2021 Tacoma and Tundra models arriving later this year.
Truck owners need versatility in the vehicles they drive, says Ed Laukes, group vice president, Toyota marketing. “They want a commuter and a hauler, plenty of performance, but also plenty of practicality for camping, hiking, or even a simple weekend getaway. So, with these customers in mind, we designed our new Trail special editions.”
Midsize Tacoma and full-size Tundra Trail Editions are designed to provide a styling punch that distinguishes them from others in the lineup, add storage and convenience, and provide a performance edge on rugged trails.
Trail Edition pickups are based on SR5-grade models, one level above the entry SR, which Toyota says it has chosen because of the “high value delivered.” The Tacoma Trail is offered solely in a Double Cab configuration and the Tundra Trail is built on the CrewMax. Both pickups are available with a choice of two- or four-wheel drive.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but a guess is that typical Tacoma Trail pricing will be in the low-$30,000s and Tundra Trail in the low-$40,000s.
Tundra Trail pickups add the SR5 Upgrade Package, which is a $945 option on current models, and includes a high-capacity 38-gallon fuel tank, front bucket seats featuring power-adjustable driver seat with power lumbar, front floor-mounted console with shift lever, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, three front cupholders, and an anti-theft system with alarm and engine immobilizer.
All Trail Editions have black exterior badging and are available in Army Green, Cement,...
