Missing man's body found in assisted living center basement
DETROIT (AP) — A 38-year-old Detroit man reported missing in March from an east side assisted living center has been found dead in the facility’s basement.
Kam Franks' body was discovered Saturday by an employee at Faithful Helping Hands Community Services, the Detroit Free Press reported. Franks reportedly last was seen on March 14.
Police said there were no signs of violence and that investigators were trying to determine what happened to Franks, including whether his death was a result of criminal negligence.
Franks' sister, Kai Franks, told WJBK-TV that she received a call from someone at the center who told her “he’s been in the basement dead the whole time. You got to get over here.”
“I can’t understand how they didn’t think to look right under their noses,” she said. “How do they not smell a body in the summer? How do you dismiss that?”
A man who answered the telephone Tuesday at Faithful Helping Hands Community Services declined to comment to The Associated Press.
