Rhapsody to keep Napster brand alive in Europe
When online subscription music service Rhapsody bought longtime rival Napster late last year, it looked as if the brand name would fade into history.
"The acquisition of Napster and its subscriber base in the U.K. and Germany gives us an ideal entry to the European market," said Rhapsody President Jon Irwin in a news release.
Through the benefit of scale, the strength of our editorial programming and strategic partnerships, we can now bring the Napster service to even more consumers on a variety of platforms.
Kevin Fox, a former designer for Google, said Dennis Hwang designed the logo in the wee hours before the 2004 launch of the popular e-mail service, which Google says now has 350 million active users.
