Sarah Silverman Shares a Political Spiel, and Her Love for Bernie

There’s something about Sarah Silverman—much like Ilana Glazer’s Broad City and Chronic Gamer Girl characters—that just hits me the right way. I imagine Silverman would be a peach to hang out with, particularly because she’s someone who appears to believe that everybody, assuming they take on heightened levels of kindness and respect, should be able to function the way they want to in this here world. But society ain’t right just yet, especially not now, in this election year.

So Silverman is putting herself out there—again. In 2008, she thought up “The Great Schlep,” desiring “Jews to gets their butts down to Florida” to inspire their grandparents to get out and vote for Barack Obama (and not be a douchnozzles). Then, 2012, she proposed to Sheldon Adelson that he give his big money to Obama rather than Romney, offering the casino magnate sexual favors as an incentive, which, in case you’re game to play this imagination game, is a vile visual.
