Feel the Summertime Feels With Pop Rockers HAIM, Who Are On Tour
It’s been three years since I first listened to HAIM’s debut album, Days Are Gone, which made tons of those “best of” lists in 2013 (and deservedly so), but I still don’t really know how to pronounce the band’s name. (Is it hey-em? Ha’am? Ahem? Hmmm.) This makes it pretty hard to recommend the Los Angeles-based rockers—fronted by sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim—to my friends. But then again, the Grammy nominated pop rockers don’t really need me to spread the word because they’ve already got their long lost sister, Taylor Swift—they opened up for her during Swift’s 1989 tour—to do that.
One thing I do know for sure though, is that these Jewish siblings know how to write a damn good song. “Let Me Go,” from their first album, is not just a song: it’s an open letter to every dude who has ever done you wrong. They sing: I’m giving up, not giving in / ‘cause together we are not one, we are nothing. You tell ‘em sister.
