Deepfakes are being used for a range of nefarious purposes, from disinformation campaigns to inserting people into porn, and the doctored images are getting harder to detect. A new AI tool provides a surprisingly simple way of spotting them: looking at the light reflected in the eyes. The system was created by computer scientists from the University at Buffalo. Adobe Photoshop has got a new AI feature that can quadruple the number of pixels in your photos. The tool, called Super Resolution, is now shipping in Camera Raw 13.2 and will be coming soon to Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. The feature uses a machine learning model trained on millions of photos to enlarge images while preserving their clean edges and fine details. We’re months away from the iPhone 13 launch, but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s usually accurate investor notes are telling us a lot about what to expect from Apple’s upcoming devices. Last September, a ton of users found that Twitter’s image cropping algorithm seemingly had a white bias. In response, Twitter said it would give users control over how images appear on their feeds while the possible bias was being investigated — but then never delivered…until now. Adobe today officially unveiled Photoshop for Apple’s M1 chip. According to the company, the ARM-compatible version should deliver “significant performance gains” for users on Apple’s custom silicon. While Adobe has had a beta version of Photoshop for M1 available since November, this is the first time it’s been available widely.
