NASA announced Tuesday that its Kepler Space Telescope has discovered another 1,284 planets. The latest finding marks the single largest discovery of planets ever, and more than doubles the number of planets that Kepler has confirmed. "This gives us hope that somewhere out there, around a star like ours, we can eventually discover another Earth," Ellen Stofan, chief scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington, said. A new poll from Public Policy Polling out Tuesday finds that Trump is so historically disliked that 54 percent of respondents say they have a higher opinion of head lice than they do the presumptive Republican nominee for president. Turns out, James Monroe's home, which people have now been touring for decades, wasn't actually where the country's fifth president lived. A recent investigation of the home's history revealed that the humble, two-room abode thought to be Monroe's was actually just his guesthouse. President Obama plans to travel to Hiroshima during a trip to Japan later this month, and in doing so he will become the first sitting president to visit the site of the 1945 atomic bombing. Struggling retailer Gap reported its fifth straight quarterly sales decline on Monday, sending its shares tumbling by 12 percent in extended trading. The company's latest slump was caused by weak demand for its Banana Republic and Old Navy brands in the face of competition from such retailers as H&M and Forever 21.
