Jeb Bush's son delicately backs Donald Trump, Jeb Bush tormentor

Cue the jokes about an awkward Thanksgiving dinner this year. On Saturday, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, Jeb Bush's son, urged fellow Texas Republicans to back the man who constantly mocked and belittled his father as "low energy," a "lightweight," "a total stiff," a "a sad and a pathetic person," and "an embarrassment to his family." In George P. Bush's remarks to GOP activists, captured on video, he nodded to the fact that Donald Trump isn't exactly popular in his family: "From Team Bush, it's a bitter pill to swallow, but you know what? You get back up and you help the man that won, and you make sure that we stop Hillary Clinton."

Bush, who was speaking in his role as the Texas Republican Party's victory chairman, had been among the most high-profile Texas Republicans not to have endorsed Trump. And unlike other boldface members of his family — father Jeb, Uncle George W., Grandfather George H.W. — George P. Bush has his promising political career ahead of him.
