RENATO SANCHES’ Bayern Munich nightmare is set to end with Lille reportedly closing in on the signing of the midfielder.
The 22-year-old has failed to live up to expectations since joining from Benfica three years ago, with the German club beating Manchester United to his signature.
Big things were expected of Sanches who starred for Portugal in their shock Euro 2016 victory, before winning the prestigious Golden Boy award later that same year.
A loan spell at Swansea during the 2017/18 season proved to be more harmful than good as he flopped in the Premier League, with the Welsh outfit suffering relegation to the Championship.
He returned to Bayern last campaign, but failed to assert himself as a first team regular as he was limited to just 24 appearances in all competitions.
According to RMC Sport, Sanches is currently in Lille ahead of his medical where he will become their most expensive signing.
The combative midfielder is expected to pen a five-year deal with the Great Danes.
Sanches expressed his desire to leave the Allianz Arena following Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin last week after he came on in the closing stages.
Speaking to Sport 1, he said: “This is not a good situation for me.

“Five minutes are not enough for me.”
Bild claimed that Sanches was fined £9,000 by boss Niko Kovac over the comments.
