Saudi Arabia 1 Mexico 2 LIVE RESULT: South Americans OUT on goal difference despite victory over Saudi Arabia
MEXICO have been sent home from the World Cup, finishing behind Poland on goal difference despite victory over Saudi Arabia.
Henry Martin converted from close range following a corner to give the Central Americans the lead.
Luis Chavez doubled their lead just moments later, firing in a fantastic free-kick to see Mexico take a two-goal advantage.
However, Saudi Arabia have netted a late goal to half the deficit, meaning that Mexico needed to score two to progress due to Poland’s better fair play record.
They were unable to do so, and go crashing out of the World Cup despite their late efforts.
