Montez Sweat Gives Advice To Caleb Williams Before Joining The Bears
In a recent episode of the Green Light Podcast, hosted by Chris and Kyle Long, they welcomed Chicago Bears star pass rusher Montez Sweat as a guest. During the episode, Chris asked Sweat for advice he would offer to Caleb Williams. Before diving into that answer, Chris prefaced the conversation by referring to “whoever the next guy was,” avoiding assumptions about the Bears selecting Williams as the number one pick, although it’s widely anticipated. Sweat laughed in response, indicating his belief that the Bears are indeed likely to select Caleb with the first pick. Later in the episode, Sweat shared the advice he would give Williams upon his arrival in Chicago in a couple of weeks.
“Be yourself and don’t try and do it all overnight. And just stay humble. Don’t try and do it all by yourself. You have a great group of guys around you.”
As Sweat pointed out, the Bears already have several veteran leaders on offense. It’s a unique moment in franchise history as a rookie quarterback steps into one of the best situations ever for a number 1 overall pick. As Sweat mentioned, Williams won’t have to carry the team, unlike quarterbacks in the past.
