Ukes vs Stalin, The Last Debate 1929.
6May
Stalin agreed to bravely face a large group of Uke Writers in a debate on the future of Ukraine.
Uke Ultra Nationalism reared it's head, even against the Red Terror. They argued fervently, to his face, for a Greater Ukraine, including Polish Galacia, which was not in the Soviet Union at that time.
They also argued that Uke speaking parts of the Russian Republic, itself, be transferred to Ukraine.
The writers later congratulated themselves in long articles and essays.
Within three years, Stalin had them all liquidated.
Here is a very interesting historical review of the famous debate that took place and gives you some insight into the branches and roots of Ukraine Nationalism.
