It’s a bit of a ramble.

We’re back!

After a weekend off we are back to talk about the news of the day and TFC on the weekend. Lots to talk about having taken a week off so this one is a bit ramble-y. Spencer Warne joined us, which we’re still not sure if that helped with the rambling or not, and we’re always glad to have him.

With it being the centenary of the RAF and the BBC running a piece on the retirement of the Tornado it got me thinking about classic British war films. 633 Squadron, Dambusters, A Bridge Too Far. Are the more recent ones (Dunkirk, Darkest Hour etc) up there with the best?

For my money, the greatest British war film isn't a Second World War one, it's the indomitable 'Zulu'. And no, it's not just the name. Great stirring sound tracks, Caine in his pomp and a decent mix of jingoism with real moral and emotional complexities. Читать дальше...

The vibe of Apple's iPad event this week, in which it introduced a new, cheaper model aimed at students and schools, could easily be summed up with that old chestnut "cheap and cheerful." Tomorrow, the games start counting. Of those 162 games that count, 76 of them (almost 47 percent) will be played against other teams in the AL Central. If all goes according to plan, the 2018 Cleveland Indians should win their third AL Central title in as many years (their tenth overall, most in the division).
