No Theo Epstein, no problem.
The Mets are continuing their search for a President of Baseball Operations. In addition to MMOs report last week about the Mets being interested in Dodgers execs Josh Byrnes and Brandon Gomes, reports are coming in about Billy Beane’s interest and the Mets reaching out to Milwaukee’s baseball president David Stearns.
John Harper notes discussions with those close to the Athletics Beane.
No idea what Steve Cohen is going to do, but in the last few days I've now spoken to two long-time friends of Billy Beane who say he's very much open to the idea of becoming pres. of bb ops for Mets. Would hire a GM to handle day-to-day duties of the job. We'll see.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reports the Mets’ interest in Stearns. Although there are complications with his situation.
The Mets planned to ask permission to interview Brewers baseball president David Stearns once they were out, so that may come any day. Although, it would be a surprise if Milwaukee OK’ed it. Stearns has only 1 year to go on deal but the Cree surely would like to extend him.

ESPN insider Buster Olney reaffirmed the Mets’ interest in the Dodgers’ Byrnes for the position.
Sources: One of the names that the Mets have discussed internally re: head of baseball operations is that of Josh Byrnes, a sr. VP for the Dodgers. Byrnes spoke to the Phillies last spring before withdrawing his name from consideration — and before PHI hired David Dombrowski.

In his end-of-season press conference, Sandy Alderson spoke about the POBO search.
“There’s a reason why circumstances could change,” Alderson said. “That might be a change in one individual or two individuals, it might be changed circumstances in the pool of individuals that we decide to contact, which could be somewhat different than existed last year. I’m optimistic that we will end up in the right place, how exactly get there, and with whom, it’s up for grabs.”
With the hiring of a POBO, Alderson will go fully go back to what he signed on with the Mets to do and that is the President of the team.
“I’m hopeful we can find someone who is going to be invested in the team long term,” Alderson said. “And we’ll get in the weeds and provide us with the leadership and expertise that we need on the baseball side. From my standpoint, I’m happy to turn that over to someone that we find who’s more capable.”
