A pro-life investigative group accused Facebook of doing a favor for the pro-abortion movement this fall by sticking a false “fact check” on its ad about a California ballot measure that allows abortions through all nine months of pregnancy.
David Daleiden, founder of the Center for Medical Progress, said Facebook began censoring their ads against Proposition 1 “after business hours on the Friday before Election Day.”
Daleiden said the social media company stuck a “fact check” on the ad that claimed the constitutional amendment would not “legalize abortion until the moment of birth” despite numerous sources that said otherwise.
The Center for Medical Progress ad warned voters that Proposition 1 would overrule existing abortion limits and allow abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. A Rasmussen poll in August found only 13 percent of California voters think abortions should be legal up to birth. However, lawmakers, news outlets and others hid the truth about the amendment from voters, and the measure passed.
“When Facebook began censoring our ads, we had reached over 500,000 Californians and were on track to reach 1 million Californians by Election Day with the crucial message that Prop 1 will legalize the killing of healthy, viable babies in late-term abortions,” Daleiden said.

In the crucial final days before the election, however, Facebook basically contributed to the pro-abortion Yes on 1 campaign by censoring their ad, he said.
Daleiden said they immediately appealed to Facebook but did not hear anything for three days. He said their lawyers sent a follow-up letter to the company.
The “fact check” that Facebook stuck on the pro-life ad came from the Associated Press and told viewers that “California Prop 1 wouldn’t legalize abortion until ‘moment of birth’.” However, Daleiden said one expert quoted in the AP piece admitted Proposition 1 does not include any limits on abortion.
“There’s no crystal clear thing saying you can 100 percent constitutionally ban abortion after viability,” Professor Mary Ziegler told the AP.
Ahead of the election, Daleiden said one abortion group began openly advertising its plans to open “all-trimester” abortion facility in Los Angeles if Proposition 1 passes. He also linked to articles in the Wall Street Journal and KQED about the amendment allowing the killing of unborn babies in abortions up to birth.
“Even [Planned Parenthood] abortion provider, Dr. Pratima Gupta, who wrote Prop 1, admitted to news media that Prop 1 intentionally removes the existing viability limit,” Daleiden said.
Proposition 1 passed Nov. 8, adding language to the California Constitution that creates a “right” to abortion on demand.
California is one of the most pro-abortion states in the country. Abortion facilities reported 132,680 abortions in 2017, the latest data available, according to the Guttmacher Institute.
Newsom and Democrat lawmakers have been working closely with the abortion industry to expand abortions in many ways. A new law slated to go into effect next year will force all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus. The governor and lawmakers also budgeted $200 million to fund and expand abortions this year.
