Performer dies at major music festival as emergency services rush to scene
A PERFORMER has died at a major Scottish music festival.
Emergency services raced to Eden Festival in Moffat after police received reports of concern for a person.
A 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after the alarm was raised at the Dumfries and Galloway venue at around 1.45pm today.
An eyewitness said a medical helicopter was called in and landed at the site around 2pm.
Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
And a report will now be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The Eden Festival kicked off on Thursday with acts including Sister Sledge, Elvana and General Levy.
Spread across 11 stages, the festival has everything from music sets, special performances, a woodland area and a garden.
It also has a space offering activities for kids.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45pm on Sunday, 11 June, 2023, officers were made aware of concern for a person at a festival in the St Ann’s area.
“Emergency services attended and 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson fore the event added: “Eden Festival is saddened to report the tragic and sudden death of a performer arriving at the festival.
“He was attended to on-site by our medical team, who were assisted by Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland.
“The festival sends its deepest sympathies to family members and wish that they be given privacy at this time.”
